Hey Nikki! We spent a week in Le Bugue and here are places we liked:

St. Chamassy---Auberge La Veille Cure(this is not long drive)

Domme---L'Esplanade great view of valley and great food

Issigeac----Chez Alain

Tremolat---Vieux Logis(REalais &Chateau hotel)

Brantome---if you get this far away Fil d'leau

Le Bugue---least favorite of trip--Trois As

in Le Bugue--Fouque for pastries, maybe ice cream

Have a great time!

Well ira pretty much covered my entire list, except for La Roseraie in Montignac and the Laborderie in Tamniès and L'Oustalou in Le Bugue and the Moulin de la Beune in Les Eyzies and Le Petit Léon (for lunch) in St-Léon-sur-Vézère.

Hi Nikki,

As noted, these are recommendations from other posters.

Hey StCirq,

Didn't you have a couple of recommendations in La Chapelle Aubareill?

I stayed at L'EEsplanade and dined there twice. Great food, excellent service, wonderful view. Highly recommended! Some years ago they had a Michelin star and are working hard to get it back. They are part of the "Jeunes Restauranteurs de Europe" association:

I was in a gite near La Chapelle-Aubareil a couple of weeks ago and had two good dinners: one at La Table du Terroir (this is the one that St. Cirq often recommends) and another at Le Bareil which is on the same road. They might be a bit hard to find so you might ask for directions in La C-A. (I'm not sure but I think you would take the most direct road from La C-A toward the D704 and then turn left at the first intersection.) Le Bareil is a ferme-auberge, no menu - you just eat what they bring you, and they bring you a lot!

We also had dinner at the Hotel Bonnet in Beynac. It was wonderful as usual but their prices have gone way up. There was a 38 euro menu and a la carte. Two years ago when I ate there they offered a good menu for 15 euros!
