The Moulin de l'Abbaye is known for its fine restaurant. See the article on bonjourparis.com

Ate at Le Moulin in Brantome last year. A complete comedy of errors. Food was not special, service lousy and check all mixed up (overcharged). However, we had our sense of humor and the setting was wonderful as was the weather. Walked around town for 3 or 4 hours. Lovely quiet place. If you like canoeing rent one or a kayak to paddle on the river.
Diagreed with alot of the article on www.bparis.com about the Moulin. Good luck.

We first saw the Hotel Chabrol in Brantome in 1994 while passing through. We decided then that if we ever made it back to France, that was the hotel to spend our anniversary in. We celebrated our 40th there in 2000, and had the most delicious meal.Excellent. Sevice at the hotel was also outstanding. We hope to get back to Brantome for our 45th.
Check out the caves nearby. Not as spectacular os some in the Dordogne, but fun to see anyway.

Mark - about 6 km outside of Brantome in Champagnace de Belair is the Moulin du Roc. We stayed there for three nights last spring (loved it) and ate at their 1-star Michelin restaurant for two of the evenings. Both of our meals were excellent.
