Doolin without a car?

In the event that we have to cancel our Galway hotel (water issue) we are thinking of spending the first two nights in Doolin after arriving at Shannon. There are 8 of us. We will not have a car.

Can we get to the Doolin harbor and Cliffs by taxi easy enough?

We planned on picking up our van and driver for the Sligo area after the first two days in Galway which helped to keep the expense down.

Thanks.

T.

Bus Eireann runs express buses from Shannon airport to Galway, and local buses between Galway and Doolin; in summer some buses continue to the Cliffs of Moher.

The pier in Doolin, from memory, is a pleasant walk from the centre of the village. There are boat trips to the cliffs (www.mohercruises.com).

Just as a follow up, I read in another post that you have two elderly travelers and I agree the walk to the pier on a fine day is a pleasant walk but I'm not sure how easy it would be for the elderly travelers. Here is a link to a taxi service based in Doolin. They do both tours and taxi.

thank you for your advice. if the bus schedule doesn't work for us then dial a tour would be perfect, especially if the weather is acting up !

I go a 9:30 AM BusEireann from Shannon to Ennis and there was a couple who wanted to make a connection to Doolin. The BusEireann driver guaranteed they would make it to Ennis on time. They did!
There's not much Bus service between Ennis and Doolin: but there's always Tony Woods Taxi service. He might even be able to offer a minibus for the 8 of you.

As Nedsireland said, Tony Woods taxi service is great. I've used them many times.

Enjoy your trip.
