Trying to book a room in castelrotto for early November. Seems like they turn out the lights in November, hardly anybody open. Anybody know a budget place for November? Also, is the Great Dolomite Rd. driveable then?

Try a B&B named Silbernagl--perhaps Haus Silbernagl.

We drove the Great Dolomite Road from Bolzano to Cortina several years ago in mid-November. It was easily passable the whole way, although there was some snow and ice on the road going over the highest passes - more of a nuisance than a problem. I'm sure it's quite variable from year to year.

Petra at the Sibernagl was the 1st one I tried, but we did find a place called the Plunger Hotel. Hope it's better than it sounds.

While not in Castelrotto... we can recommend both the Garni Ariston in St. Christina (Val Gardena) and the Ciasa Montanara in La Villa (Alta Badia).
