We are also travelling to the same area (with the exception of Venice)with our three year old in June (hopefully). One straight forward thing to do is to spend some time at Garda Land which is Italy's largest amusement park. If its anything like Europa Park in Germany, it should be very nice. There are also several picnic spots, boat rides, cable car rides and nature walks in the area. The car is the right way to go. Hope you have a great time. I too would look forward to more replies to your question.

Sisi - Also near Lake Garda is the Varone Waterfall, - about 3 miles north of Riva. This is a waterfall INSIDE a mountain, which you get to through short tunnels through the rockface. Good fun for children. Expect to get wet!

There are several beaches around Lake Garda, e.g Torbole, - and several places where you can rent a boat, e.g Limone.

In the Dolomites the chairlifts and cable cars are fun for children, and most of the main resorts have nature trails, swimming pools, activities and clubs for children, - just check with the local tourist info centres. Here's one for the Val Gardena area.

http://www.val-gardena.com/gma/nfl/micky.html

Boating is available at the main lakes, e.g. Lake Braies near Brunico (the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites!), Lake Caldaro near Bolzano ... etc.

The cliff railway at Caldaro up to the Mendola Pass is also fun.

Children might enjoy seeing the Ice Man at Bolzano too.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Sisi - I'd recommend one of two rides in the Dolomites:-

- LAGAZUOI cable car - on the Falzarego Pass west of Cortina.

- SASS PORDOI cable car - on the Pordoi Pass between Canazei and Arabba.

On Lake Garda there is also a cable car at Malcesine.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Sisi:

Your subject line did not specifically request info for Venice, but your letter does, so I'm going to refer you to a thread I posted a few weeks back on Venice with kids. Mine are a bit older than yours, but some of the info would still apply.

Seach under my name (you can just click on it as it appears at the top of this message) and you'll find the thread appropriately labeled.
