You can NOT count on the ability to get from Venice to Milan airport (I assume you mean Malpensa) for an 8 am flight - - unless you leave at midnight maybe.
Most people in your shoes would arrive late the night before and stay near the airport. The only "entertaining" alternative that comes to mind would be to "overshoot" slightly and spend the evening in Como (less than an hour from Malpensa).
I have never actually tried to do what you need to do.
Best wishes,
Rex

Let me clarify since I see that I did not answer your primary question. no, the train does not go to Malpensa. Search "Malpensa" here for info on the Malpenda Express service.

Susan,
I would definitely do what some of the other posters here advise and stay in Milan overnight. Our recent experience going from Venice to Milan confirmed this for me. We were booked on the Eurostar from Venice to Milan, but when we arrived at the train station in Venice, the Eurostar had been inexplicably cancelled.Although we were put onto a local train about an hour later, we were quite late getting into Milan. Transportation delays are very common in Italy. That's why it would be best for you to get to Milan the night BEFORE you have to leave. Good luck!
