Do you think Colby had a deal to split it with Tina?

How else to explain his not voting her off? And he seemed so genuinelly happy that she won!

Oh well, wait'll they se how much goes for taxes!

Yay Tina! My dark horse pick won! She knew how to play the game.

I thought that was a real admirable move on Colby's part, to be willing to go up against someone that he knew would have a better chance of winning. And I think that was genuine, not staged. Of course, it might have also been a calculated gamble on his part, hoping that people would respect him for going up against a tougher competitor, and vote for him because of that.

I also think his enthusiasm about Tina winning was genuine; I got the feeling -- unlike the first show -- that these two finalists really liked each other, and that either one would've been happy for the other.

All-in-all, a much more enjoyable group of people than the first show, IMO. Looking forward to the next one in Africa.
All I have to say is that in the end, Colby looked like a real gentleman - I came out with the feeling that he's a really decent human being with a great sense of commitment, unselfishness and personal worth. Interesting, when you think that after taxes, the prize money may not go very far in this day and age, but the good PR that he'll get from this may be worth a whole lot more (especially when coupled with the fact that he's as good-looking as they come).

I will admit I have watched most of the two Survivor programs. I am not exactly sure why. I normally hate reality TV, from The Real World to Big Brother to Amazing Travel Videos. I really cannot bring myself to watch more than a few minutes of any of them. However, I do find the challenges mostly interesting on Survivor. What appeals to me even more though is the strategizing, the mind games that go on. It is almost like a human chess game at times. While battling the environment for 6 weeks, you have to keep focus and keep playing the game, keep trying to out-think your opponents. I am not sure that it sends a good message about behavior, but it sure is fun to watch most of the time. The first one was better to me because people were thrown into a completely unknown environment - the whole situation was new - and they had to adjust. On the last show, people kind of knew what to expect going in. I was shocked with Colby's decision last night not to vote Tina off, considering the way he played the game until then. I think his focus changed from winning it all to wanting to be there with Tina versus Keith at the end.

Yeah, I admit I watch Survivor too.

I don't think it was fixed. Maybe Colby was feeling a little lightheaded and made an error in judgment due to malnutrition. Because nobody is that dumb.

Doesn't surprise me that Tina the nurse would have the people skills to win a game like that and get Colby to like her. Hope the next group of survivors is less beautiful, though. Survivor II proved that beautiful people aren't very interesting.

The BBC did a year-long program called "Castaway" wherein a largish group of folks, many in families, were placed on an uninhabited island in the Hebrides for a year (2000) to see how they survived and who ended up sleeping with who, etc. Interesting stuff, not nearly as melodramatic as the US "Survivor" show (no larvae consumed, at least not while we were watching, although some of the participants were grubby...)
But leave it to ITV to get in on the hardbodies-in-tank-tops bandwagon. A British "Survivor" series set on an uninhabited tropical island, with tribal councils and all that, all for a prize of £1,000,000, (sound familiar?) apparently was to have started on ITV on May 2. (UKers - did it?)
Perhaps the same sets can be used, and a new generation of rats is now table-ready? (No doubt all the rats are named Basil.)
