Does Germany have something like Italian Agriturismo?

We have just returned from six weeks in France and Italy. Four and a half of those weeks were spent in four different Italian farm apartments (Agriturismo in Italian). It was an absolutely wonderful experience.

My question: We are going flying into Munich in May and would like to do something similar in Germany. Are there farm stays or farm apartment rentals in Germany? If so, what are they called? If you could give me a web link, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes there is something like that in Germany, too. Its called "Ferien auf dem Bauernhof". Maybe this link will be helpfull.

Yes, holiday appartment on a farm (whether it's a working farm or former farm) is very extensive and popular in Germany, but they aren't organised on a national basis as in France, Italy or Catalunya. You get a comprehensive list of rural appartments (Ferienwohnungen) from local tourist office, many of whom are on the net (mostly in German only). Try Googling 'tourist' and the name of the locality. You mostly have to book direct with owners (some have online booking or e-mail address). They are great value for money and you are assured of a warm welcome and spotless accommodation.

Farms stays are also wonderful experiences in Germany (at least they have been for me). On my website I have many links to farms throughout southern Germany and Austria - many with personal reviews from myself or friends. Farms (Bauernhöfe) are (IMHO) without a doubt the best lodging option in Europe... Ben http://www.bensbauernhof.com/farms.html

Thank you all so much. I did a search on this web site and have already found BavariaBen. I'll check all the links.

We had such a great experience in Italy that we really wanted to try it in Germany next spring.

Again, thank you.

Hello to all,
I wanted to add the following info for those who may pull up the thread in a search for Farmholidays. In Bavaria it´s called Bauernhofurlaub or Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof. On the following Website http://www.bauernhof-bayerischer-wald.de you can find 14 different farms who offer Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof in Bayern. The farms are located in the bavarian forest in German called " Bayerischer Wald " one of the famous holiday areas in Germany! Esspecially this farm can be very intresting for all who like a typical Bauernhofurlaub in Bayern http://www.bauernhof-bayern.com with many different anymals, best for parents with Kids!
Enjoy it!
