Do you love these Amsterdam Restaurants?

Breitner, Le Garage?
(thanks to richardsonnm for Oriental City and Margaritas)
Any other suggestions welcome as we'll have 5 days before taking off into the countryside.

I like Le Garage. It's quite well-known in Holland, lots of celebrities apparently go there, but I never saw any. I like the food, ambiance.

Tulips, I gather you live there! What do you think of Excelisor (in our hotel)? I was hesitatant to post some wardrobe questions because I see from the archives some hate that but this is for you and anyone interested in fashion. We thought we could pack casualwear but the weather is rainy and coolish and some of the restaurants will want jackets (and we're also going to the opera). Also we start in London at another 5 star hotel and some of our restaurants have codes. I'm wondering if our slim black cotton raincoats (knee-length) will seem out of place in the summer and tan would be more appropriate? Will pack my husband's black suit jacket, polo shirts, etc. After 5 days there, we'll drive to several villages and switch to either jeans, khakis or black jeans. It's hard to determine because we don't want to overpack as the bags should fit in the trunk.

Clematis; late reply! Was on an internet-free vacation. I don't live in Amsterdam, but I am Dutch.
A light rain coat is essential! Any colour. Especially with the summer we are having now. Amsterdam is definitely more casual than London (I lived in London for many years). Can't think of many places where my husband would wear a jacket in Amsterdam. Lots of jeans, smarter trousers for smart restaurants (although lots of women wear jeans with a smart top/jacket to restaurants). If Dutch men wear jackets, it's more likely to be jacket/trousers with or without tie than suits. Overall people are very casual, with jackets needed in only the smartest restaurants (Michelin starred for example).
Don't know the Excelsior. Which hotel is that? The restaurant of Blakes is great; very beautiful, in a converted canal house, Thai food, expensive.
I heard great things about restaurant De Kas, in a former glass greenhouse, but haven't been.

My favorite resturant in the World----Madras Indian Resturant. Address: Korte Ledisedwarsstraat 61, 1017 RD Amsterdam 020--3307709. It is a very small Indian resturant with few tables but for some reason, I eat there all the time. It is near the
