Do you go right back to work after a trip?

I like to have 3-4 days off when I get home from Europe to get over jet lag, do laundry, get pictures developed, and sort of wind down from the trip before going back to the office. What do the rest of you do?

UGggg! Can't believe how hard it is to get back on this time table! Passing out at 5:00 pm and waking up at 2 AM...can't imagine going to work and functioning! Anyway...we threw ourselves into cleaning the garage...mindless task that needed doing!

I need some time to unwind too, also to grocery shop, do laundry and in general face the real world again after what always feels like coming back from a dream.

I go right back to work, because I don't want to waste my limited vacation days.

No, have to take one to two days additional vacation after the real vacation. This time we're arriving back home on a Friday so we'll have the weekend to sort things out.

Working Gal -

What would you do if you were traveling for business? Take 3 or 4 days off after each trip?

Seeing as how I have two weeks of vacation per year, I go back to work. Granted I spend the first few days like a zombie staring at my computer but who cares. I'd rather spend my days traveling then recovering. I'll leave that to work.

Well, since I don't travel for business this is not an issue. I imagine it is difficult to go into the office after arriving back from a long flight, however the people I work with who do travel for business (I'm in the education field) do not come in to work for a day or two.

Now that I'm retired, it's not an issue. There have to be some benefits to getting older!

I usually go right back, but I try to retain a vacation day on the tail end in case I pick up a bump. If there is no bump, I'm back at work. I've just been fortunate to have become a lot less sensitive to jet lag after a few trips. Also, it's very helpful if you can sleep enroute and I know that is difficult for some people.

I came home on a Saturday at midnight, took it easy and slept a lot on Sunday and back to work on Monday.

I left myself a recovery day after my first Europe trip in many years but kicked myself for it. I would have like to do more stuff that day. The last trip I went to work the next day. With the jet lag I just go to bed early and get up early so I go to work early and come home early. It took a while to get the post trip stuff sorted out but so what?
