I ws dining in France at the home of some French friends. Their lawyer was paying way too much attention to me and sitting too close. My husband and host across the table knew how I would react and were cheerfully waiting for the moment after tactfully asking him to not be so aggresive and nochange, I asked him (much to the delight of all at the table) if he wanted to eat or would he rather sit on my lap.
My avocat behaved after that.

Sheesh, even I got flirted with while on my honeymoon! By French though...
as to "popping" anyone who flirts with you, er.. um... surely that's just "chest-beating" mucho BS isn't it?
Not serious... right?

Was it a social dinner or was the lawyer in professional duty?
The answer he gave (no answer) is compatible with profesional duty, otherwise I think he might have answered "Is it a rethorical question, or do I have the option?"

cigalechanta: Beautiful response!! I love it! I hope I can be poised enough to remember that line next time it is appropriate.

They definitely still flirt! They blatanly gawk, even if I'm walking down the street with my husband's arm around me.

I find it quite flattering! I remember my first trip to Italy. We had taken an overnight train from Vienna to Florence. I got off the train thoroughly exhausted due to lack of sleep. My hair was a wreck and I longed for a shower; I'm certain I looked like quite a mess. So needless to say nothing gave me more of a boost than walking through the train station with the Italian guys gawking and making comments at me like I was the best looking thing they had ever seen!

Cigale,

Now I understand why you feel at home here. You are obviously self-confident and understand the French mentality. I would love to see you in Paris.

Don't ever change.

The popping was his version of pillow talk. His previous wife was a wimp or a loony and liked him macho so he puts on the rough talk during certain moments. This may become tiresome over three weeks time so this trip may not work.

- and you like that he still imagine being with his wife during "certain moments" with you?

Oh, what the heck, it's not a serious post, let's the fun continue!

I second all the replies that say dump the boyfriend. If he can't take someone casually flirting with you (after all, you're WITH HIM, not the other guy of any age) that is a bad sign for the health of your relationship.

Have fun and find a new guy in Italy!

There is a significant age difference between DH and me. I thought that may be the reason why a lot of older men graciously flirted with me..this post is proving me wrong.

The funny thing was that after the men were done with their 'evaluation' of me they gave DH 'approving' nods. DH, being europen, nodded right back. Got to love that man

The wonderful thing is that the older I get, the more flirting I notice.
