Do National Holidays interfere with business as usual

Our stay in Europe will include May Day and Victory Day. Should we expect public closures or interuption in services such as shuttles?

Minimally. If you mean Paris specifically, traffic patterns might be affected a little bit, just as would be true with any big parade day in New York. But then, on the other hand, traffic can be lighter because these are holidays and fewer people are working.

Try to get right down by l'Arc de Triomphe to watch the celebration of "le huit mai" (Liberation, or Victory, or V-E day). Very cool.

Best wishes,

Rex
Netherlands' (including Amsterdam) businesses close on April 30th (Queen's Day), not April 20th.

Sue, you don't say where you're going. National Holidays vary from country to country, so we can't answer your question.

How about all Saints Day? We'll be in Paris on Nov.1. Will museums etc. be opened, restaurants regular hours? What in your experience has the city been like? If we have just a few days there what can we do on that day?
