I will be hiring a private car service for transfer from my hotel in Positano to Sorrento. Do I need to tip my driver or is it included in the price?

I always tip the driver of my car from airports into town. THey are employees not the owners and provide extra services. It doesn't have to be a huge amount . I usually give 5 GBP in London or 5 or 10 Euro depending on length of trip

Italians do not tip the way Americans do.

If your driver gives extra good service,eg, carries your bags, provides commentary, a couple of Euro tip is satisfactory.

When we were last in Positano, our hotel hired a porter to carry two large suitcases up the hill to the bus stop. The man set down our bags, waited for us to catch up to him and left before I could put my hand in my pocket to tip him.
