DLN! How was Paris/Provence?
2 weeks in France? Are you going through withdrawal yet?
We will patiently (not) wait for a trip report and hear all about the food and shopping.
Did you meet Croque Madame?
Welcome back!

Bonjour! We arrived back home last night laden with souvenirs from two weeks in Paris and Provence (and piles of dirty laundry, alas). We had the most wonderful trip ever! Neither my husband or I had been to Paris in more than ten years, and never to Provence (we actually ended up doing half a week in the Gard and half in the eastern part of Provence) and all I can say is that we've returned ENCHANTED with France. It is incredibly beautiful and the people were very friendly and warm.
The wine flowed like water, we ate pastries to our hearts' content, we walked miles and miles, and two weeks flew by like two minutes.
Croque Madam, my husband and I sat happily in the Luxembourg Gardens busily planning how soon we could all get BACK to France, and we hadn't even left! That's how good it was.
I kept a journal and will do a trip report next week. I have So Much to tell! In Paris we did a lot of exploring in different neighborhoods. In the Gard, we visited beautiful Aigues Morte, Uzez, the perched medieval village of Lussan, and a ruined abbey. In Provence we cheated death on the tortuous mountain roads of the Gorge of Verdon (whited knuckled all the way, but I have pottery from Moustiers as a consolation prize!). We stayed three nights at a perfect bed and breakfast that I will tell you all about because it's too good not to share. AND MORE!
And yes, I am glad to be back home. There's something about a perfect vacation that has you has you come back relaxed and ready to face the world with confidence and happiness.

Moustiers is the reason we went on this trip! Fifteen years ago (to the month) Gourmet magazine had an article about it, with Moustiers as the cover photo. I took one look and swore that I'd see it one day. I never expected it would take so long, but it sure was worth the wait! I was afraid it would have been touristy--it's really been discovered in the last decade or so--but it was a really nice town to wander around in. The pottery was prettier than I expected as we saw many patterns that never make it to the US market. And I couldn't even begin to describe how high those mountains are! Suffice it to say that they wouldn't fit into my camera's picture frame in one go.
The Gorge of Verdon: I feel like I should have a special pin that proclaims "I drove the Gorge and lived to tell the tale!" Whew. I thought the Amalfi Coast was a great thrill but it was child's play compared to the "scenic" route through the Gorge! I'm really glad we did it but please, don't ask me to do it again!
