Last week we were in Bayeux and tried Le Pommier, very nice with a fireplace, Au Petit Normand, also very good, more of a mom & pop kind of place and La Rapiere, the more expensive of the three. We enjoyed all three. We did make reservations, but our hotel said that La Rapiere is the one you really need it for. This was off season, you might want to call ahead if the town is full.
Had we stayed longer we would tried the others as well.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned La Rapiere. We were there in Fall 2009, and thought it was terrific - we only found out later that it's number 1 on Trip Advisor in Bayeux.

I guess I don't read very well, just saw that waterdog had referenced La Rapiere two posts before me. As I recall, we did not have a reservation and the place was packed, but we waited only 15 minutes or so. The hostess and wait staff were very sweet.

Four nights from now we'll be dining in Bayeux--first night in France and you can imagine how excited we are! Searching here for recommendations I found that the precise name for one of the above restaurants is Le P'tit Resto and their website is:

I thought this would help others in searching.

THAT is very interesting, and I am sure it will be equally as good. BUT I'll bet dollars to donuts it is a recent conversion because of the popularity of this restaurant. The place we went was a "discovery" and "modest" and SO delicious. Good for them.

Like Carolyn,
We enjoyed Le Petit Bistro & Lion d'Or(a bargain @less than 20€)
Unlike others, we found Le Pommier vastly overrated
One day we found ourselves walking around out of the tourist district(behind Le Pommier beyond the park) we found the most exceptional bistro. When we returned home, I wanted to review on Tripadvisor, but it wasnt listed

When we were there last summer, I noticed the change in name at Le Petite Bistro to Restro. We didn't eat there this time so have no idea about that, but I do know the change has been at least a year ago.

This is the website for Le P'tit Resto. Is the place everyone is talking about? We will give it a shot this Fall.

We have finally made it to Bayeux and will be dining at Le P'tit Resto in a few hours. Looking forward to see whether the hype is deserved. Dined at Le Petite Normand last night. Great onion soup. Prices were moderate and we enjoyed our meal there. Wine supply in France has been severely depleted since our arrival a couple of weeks ago.

The White Sancerre winemakers are a resilient bunch, I can never understand how they recover from my visits.

We were in Bayeux last week. Our group of 5 enjoyed an outstanding dining experience at La Rapiere.
Seafood was excellent, wine was cry well priced. Service was very good as well.
Strongly recommend this restaurant!!
