Dimensions for carry on in Dublin
I have gone to Delta.com and cannot find
the dimensions for international flight
carry-on baggage from Europe. The person
in customer service said it is the same
as from the US --one roll aboard and one
personal item like a purse or diaper bag.
This forum confirms that is not the case.
Could someone please give me the current rules for carry on baggage size from Dublin?
Many thanks.

Thank you for that link. I had found
it via google as well, but it does not
give the dimensions which a European
airport considers appropriate for carry-on. Having read what happened
at Heathrow, I do not want to have to
return to check a bag which is oversize.
Thanks for your assistance.

Ireland doesn't impose any size limits on hand luggage, therefore it's whatever Delta say - http://www.delta.com/traveling_check...ance/index.jsp

I have recently taken on board a carry-on bag , plus my handbag in Dublin, flying to Italy. My sister was stopped from taking a bag on board the previous week, she was told it was too big, that it had to be 20x12. There seems to be no consistency at all.

lucielou, I expect that you got the handbag through because of some informality in procedures (that does not mean compromised security, just a recognition that provided baggage and handbag were screened, there was no enhanced security risk).
The bag size question is down to the policy of each airline. They do have different policies, and some (Ryanair notably) are more rigorous in enforcing their rules than others.
