Digital camera in Paris
I'm bringing a digital camera with me to Paris. I assume they have shops that can download your pix onto a disc so you can resuse the space on a chip. Has anyone done this? Was it expensive, was it compatible with computers here?I do want to print out my pix eventually after all. Merci mes amis.

If you will just put downloading digital on the search area, you will receive a lot of recent views on this very subject. Personally, I always bring enough memory with me ,however another gal on a recent trip had hers downloaded to cd.s in Croatia and had fine results. It is just that you have to find the place to do it. Good luck. halfpint.

You can buy extra chips really cheaply on Ebay. For example, a Sandisk 64mb (about 120 photos) compact flash sells for less than $10 - everyone now wants the new mega 100mb ones, but I like the smaller chips because you can put a specific city, or theme, on one chip . Buy a couple( test them out before the trip), and you won't go through the hassle of finding a reliable place to get your cd's made.

Guarantor..what a great idea. I was just about to buy a 512 mb card at costco..they were on sale and had a rebate.. but several smaller cards would certainly lessen the confusion of just what I was looking at. After 2-3 weeks I sometimes have trouble remembering just where I'd taken a particular shot.
They certainly would download faster once we got home.!
many thanks for a great suggestion.

Jody: All you have to do is jot down your itinerary as you travel. When you get home and transfer your digital photos to your PC, you can see what day and time each photo was taken by placing your cursor over the photo. Just make sure to change the TIME on your camera to match local time wherever you are.

When we were in Paris (in June) we downloaded our digital pictures to CD at the Fat Tire Bike Tours shop (www.fattirebiketours.com), located near the Eiffel Tower. It was 5E for the CD and they were willing to put as many pictures on it as we had (we transferred two memory sticks worth~150 pictures). It was very quick and reasonable and compatible with all the different brands. Cheaper than buying new memory. Just thought I'd share our experience!
