Difficulty using a French keyboard (HP computer)

I'm trying to use a French keyboard and type the @ symbol. Can anyone give me advice?

You type Alt + @.

Use Alt+ for all the characters on the right side of each button.

Posted at the same time, lol.

I spent a humiliating amount of time figuring that out in France. The front desk could not figure out what was wrong with me...

It must work with normal French keyboards, because it's the norm. If yours didn't work with Alt+, try this:
- Turn your typing language from Fr (french) to EN(english), then back to Fr, by the small language button in your screen. Then try the Alt+@
Sometimes the Alt function is numb and I had to do like that.

If it still doesn't work, restart your computer.
If that still doesn't work, change your keyboard (there are cheap keyboards in shops that you can plug into your computer).

If you can remember where the @ is on your usual keyboard, you can change the definition of the keyboard and you'll find it in its old familiar spot.

You can see it on the top row, it's on the bottom right of the zero. Hit the "ALTGR" key at the bottom right of the space bar, then that key on the top line. This is what hetismij2 is saying, just thought you might not know where the Alt Gr key is. This works for any of those characters at the bottom right of the keys with 3 characters on them.

The Alt gr is what you use also on an Italian keyboard, except that @ is on the bottom right of the key that has ò and ç.

Alt gr 2 is for Belgian keyboards configured in French.
They manage to have subtle differences !
