Both come in 3 different strengths. Halcion, 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg. AAmbien, 2.5, 5 and 10 mg. I have never used either as I prefer to take short naps on a long flight rather than sleep the whole way. I feel it is more important to move around the plane and avoid DVT ( economy class syndrome). I personally would prefer to arrive sleeepy than with a blood clot.

My husband and I have used Ambien on flights to Europe and it has really helped, since we have a hard time falling asleep on planes. It's a very gentle sleep aid and easy to wake up from. Be sure to take the lowest dosage recommended by your doctor (5mg should be fine.)
