Different Strength Halcion and/or Ambian?
I have seen the above listed sleeping aids listed on this very helpful site.

Is there only one strength for either of these? Do you have a personal preference?
|
Both come in 3 different strengths. Halcion, 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg. AAmbien, 2.5, 5 and 10 mg. I have never used either as I prefer to take short naps on a long flight rather than sleep the whole way. I feel it is more important to move around the plane and avoid DVT ( economy class syndrome). I personally would prefer to arrive sleeepy than with a blood clot.

Halcion comes in 0.125 mg and 0.25 mg. tablets. Ambien comes in 5 mg and 10 mg tablets.
|
Daves right, I got my decimal point in the wrong place onthe Halcion, but it alos comes in 0.5 mg nand the Ambien in 2.5. I should never type before noon!

Ambien is a non hyponotic. When you awaken you don't feel groggy or any worse for wear. Halcion has some serious side effects and I didn't think it was prescribed much anymore , if at all.

said it before. halcion will gork some people, sometimes for 24 hrs or so. this is not the sleeping pill od choice and should be avoided. there are other side effects that can cause trouble also. bad way to start a vacation ressembling a wilted carrott

My husband and I have used Ambien on flights to Europe and it has really helped, since we have a hard time falling asleep on planes. It's a very gentle sleep aid and easy to wake up from. Be sure to take the lowest dosage recommended by your doctor (5mg should be fine.)
