Development at Agios Prokopios Naxos

I'm reposting this because I forgot to tag it for Greece.

This is what Agios Prokopios Beach will look like this year (you will need to be on Facebook to see it):

Just curious... has there been any word re: this coming summer? We spent our time at St. George's beach close to Naxos Town last summer since we had quite a bit of wind and the town beach was better for our children, but we will be staying close to Agios Prokopis this trip for 10 nights (staying at Birikos). The view from this beach is so lovely otherwise!!

I'm not sure the inflatables were a success, so they may not be there this year. I seem to recall reading they had to be taken down after a windstorm. I like Agios Prokopios Beach, especially when you walk away from the developed area. There may be some shelter from the wind at the north end of the beach below the Stelida headland.

Just a tip: if it happens to be windy when you get to Antiparos, Panagia Beach, also known as Psaraliki III, has a stone wall at the back which shelters from the wind. That's my go to beach when it is windy. There is a taverna just off the beach that gets very good reviews, but no sun beds or other amenities — just the way I like it. The beach is sandy with tamarisk trees for shade.

Since you will have a car there are lots of beautiful beaches on Antiparos where hardly anyone goes. There are sheltered beaches at the south of the island, so it's worth doing some exploring. Livadia Beach, on the windy side of the island, even sometimes has swells big enough for surfboarding.

Antiparos sounds more and more PERFECT!!

Thank you for the tips on Naxos as well. We did not spend time at Agios Prokopios last summer but we did go to Agios Anna which was very close-by. There was quite a bit of sea weed that had blown in so we didn't stay long, but it seemed lovely and quiet.

I'm not fond of Ag. Anna on Naxos, despite having given it several tries ... not in high season but late May/early june so not talking a period when one would expect crowds. The main part of the beach is narrower between waterline & end of sand & is fully-packed with sunbeds -- so much so that one could not find an empty space to put down a beach towel. And that part of the beach is also lined with tavernas & cafes side by side that play music continuously, so I did not find it quiet .... when going to area of the beach on either end away from tavernas, seaweed is encountered on one end, and pebbly area on another. In some islands this might be the only alternative... but Naxos has Plaka, Ag. Prokopios, Mikra Vigli, etc etc. acres & acres of sand ....
