Desperate for cheap (under 100E) Rome hotels...Any thoughts?

We're off to Italy in one week (the 5th) and plan to spend 4 nights in Rome. I thought we had a hotel for that time, but it appears not. Anyone have any thoughts on a good place to try? Are we crazy to think we can get a decent, clean place (bathroom in hall is fine with us) for under 100?

These may work for you. Good reviews, inexpensive hostels and B&B's.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! We just got word that Campo de Fiori can accomodate us for all four nights. I've heard both good and bad things....any thoughts? Or any rooms to request in particular?

I have not stayed there, but have walked by it. It is in an excellent, very central, location. Being two blocks away from the actual Campo de Fiori square, it should be quiet enough at night. You might also try tripadvisor.com for reviews of people who have stayed there recently.

Campo dei Fiori is a piazza/square - is there a name of a B&B or hotel that you're talking about? links are good.

Great outdoor market in the mornings and it can get pretty spring breakish at night. Mainly Thurs thru Sun. nights it's a very happening gathering spot with a young crowd.

The Drunken ship has a happy hour with good snacks starting at 6 pm I think, which is fun to pop into after walking around all day.

Great, I'll check ratestogo and venere. I'm worried about Campo de Fiori being loud, but that's the trade-off for being in the middle of things (although I'm not really a "Spring Break" person, so that's worrisome, but it's Rome and we're leaving in a week, so who am I to complain!)

Chileseliza,
We stayted at the Campo di Fiori hotel a couple of years ago. The plus is that it's in a great location with a lovely rooftop area where you can sip wine and eat takeout and watch all of the action. We had a room with bathroom on the lower floor which was very small but had lovely paintings of clouds above! The noise in the evenings is pretty amazing...lots of shouting and glass breaking...but it is quite an experience to stay there! This year we are going to stay at the B&B Bianchi Vecchi which is close to that area but near the Tiber.
Have a great trip...even if the location is noisy it is a unique experience!

Fellini B&B which is rec. on Eurocheapo is wonderful & in your price range..Clean, very pretty, nice owner and fab location near Trevi and Spanish Steps. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms really modern, and windows block out almost all street noise. I booked it through www.venere.com. I have booked thru them several times with good results. when you go on the Venere website to Rome, click bed & breakfast. Fellini isn't listed under hotel section. It consistently gets 5 star feedback. I was extremely pleased with this selection. It maybe all booked up so close to date but maybe someone else could use the rec. for the future. we stayed in an ensuite room for 3 nights and then a bath across the hall room the other 3 nights. Both were great. There is also a really nice balcony area and a minimal breakfast is included.

We've got a room for four nights at the Campo de Fiori, but also the possibility for a room at Albergo Della Lunetta. Has anyone stayed there? Seems to be very close by the Campo, but no noise complaints. Thoughts?
