a few years ago, we stayed at the Mas des Gres in Langes, just outside Isle'
and another year at one of my favorites, The Mas de Cure Bourse in Isle. Fontaine? you mean Fontaine de Vaucluce? I have not stayed there but have eaten at the wonderfu Chez Philip overlooking the falls. Pernes is a place I have not visited yet. To me, there are no mistakes in Provence where to stay, we find the driving easy to get everywhere. The only thing I find is staying in a busy place like on the forum in Arles, It's very congested and trying to drive away is difficult.

We spent a week in Provence in May 2003. Based ourselves just outside St.Remy at La Maison de Bournissac, a beautiful inn with a fine restaurant, welcoming pool, and a view to die for. St. Remy is indeed well located and not congested. Lots of restaurants nearby for dinner. If you're planning on La Gousse d'Ail, be sure to make reservations in advance,as it's a small, popular spot. Avignon is great to visit, but I wouldn't base there as there really is too much traffic to contend with. We ate lunch at a lovely restaurant in Chateauneuf-du-Pape on the square. So many vineyards to visit, so little time: I can recommend Chateau La Nerthe, not too hard to find on la Route de Sorgues and heavenly to visit. We also had an exceptional lunch at Chez Bru, a restaurant/bistro in the small village of Eygaliere. This town and the restaurant are worth your time. Bon voyage!

Elsie. Bistro Bru now has added a less expensive place around the corner, called La petite Bru. Very good!

Is Crillon le Brave out of the way for seeing the Luberon? We want to see Vaison and L'Isle sur la Sorgue also, which it looks closer to, but it seems a little remote for seeing Bonnieux, Rousillon, etc.

Crillon le Brave is a bit further out, but it is very easy to cover all the Luberon towns from there.

Do you want to see the eastern part of Provence, including the Côte d'Azur (Nice, Cannes, etc.)?

I guess you must be experienced bikers..Mont Ventoux requests a good level..if you would like to cycle between the vineyards (incl.tasting) spotting the Mediterranée, lying down on the beach, ride again in the mountains you may want to consider the Var Region www.cg83.fr
It is a beautiful region, Bormes Les Mimosas is a must see, the wineroute of the cotes de provence is really stunning. Feel free to contact me if you need more info...et bonnes vacances

maison, mimosa is my favorite flower. What months is it in bloom? When is the mimosa fete?

I think the mimosas are in bloom around March. Bormes-les-Mimosas is an absolutely charming town, rather like California's Carmel-by-the-Sea. We really enjoyed just wandering the hilly streets and looking out at the view to the Mediterranean. A nice hotel there is Le Mirage. The rooms on the top floor are best, as they have terraces and a/c.
