December Holidays in Paris

I will be in Paris at the end of December into January. Before returning home, I'd like to take a day trip or overnight trip, weather permitting, to another city or destination that's accessible by train. Someone suggested Dijon. Is there a winter-friendly trip that you can recommend?
thanks for your ideas.

I would choose a destination in function of the weather once you have arrived. If it is snowy or freezing or sunny and mild, it can really make a difference regarding the best place to go.

Yes, I know. We won't make plans until we get there, but thought I'd do some research before I depart.

Perhaps Strasbourg, which is an hour and 30 minutes on the TGV or perhaps Brugges or Nancy. Not far from Paris.

Hi str,

Nancy, Strasbourg, Dijon, Beaune, Lyon, Avignon are all less than 3 hr from Paris by train.

Just for the record, Strasbourg is 2 hrs, 18 min. on the TGV, not 1 hr. 30min. Still quite doable for even a day trip.
