Versailles, Chartres, Reims, Rouen, Fontainbleu, Giverny,Rambouillet , Malmaison, Chantilly, Vincennse..
All of them can be reached by train in 60 - 90 minutes. Have a look in any guide (inclusiv in Fodor's - destination) at all these destinations, and decide what is interesting for you.

Versailles, Fontainebleau, Rambouillet, Rueil-Malmaison, Vincennes, etc., are just metro, RER or commuter trains, so not only do they qualify as a day trip, they even qualify as a half day trip.
Reims is 45 minutes by TGV, Lille is 55 minutes by TGV, Brussels is 1h10 by Thalys, Metz and Nancy are 1h25 by TGV... and places like Rennes or Dijon are also easily within reach with a little planning (i.e. getting Prem's tickets off the internet).

What are you interested in. Unless you narrow down your criteria you'll just get a laundry list of places which you can get from any guide book.
If this is your first trip to Paris you'll only see the highlights in 9 days. There's lots to explore in the city without ever leaving.

We came across a book that you may find useful. We certainly did last March. It is "An Hour From Paris," by Annabel Simms. We got our copy from Amazon.
It details many day trips from Paris, all reachable by public transportation. We were particularly entranced by Moret-sur-Loing.

I'm with Jeff801- get a copy of the "An Hour From Paris". It is a wonderful guidebook. I loved my day trip to Moret-sur-Loing. Provins is also a nice destination and an easy day trip.
There are about 20 destination featured in the book.
The book has specific directions for transportation, dining, etc. The best feature is the walking itinerary (with a map) for each destination.
