Day trip to Rhodes or Kos from Turkey - worth it?

You've all been so helpful with advice for our trip to Turkey in October. We're driving from Selcuk to Antalya in late October and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to use one of our days to take a ferry either from Bodrum to Kos or from Marmaris to Rhodes. Or should we not push it and just stay in Turkey? We leave Selcuk on the 29th and have to be on a flight from Antalya to Istanbul the morning of November 1. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.
Thanks.

Ellen

hello again,

I wouldn't push it. You have a fairly long drive and lots of things to see and experience on the way.

if you really want to visit one of the islands, you can change your plan to drive to Antalya, and fly back to Istanbul from Bodrum after visiting Kos.

Rhodes and Kos are both 'worth it', but there is so much to see in both places that a day trip will only be frustrating.

Well i dont have enough information about Rodos and Kos but if what u want is just to see a Greek island, i can advice you something different. On the western coast of Antalya there is a Town called Kaş. About 2km offshore there is the greek island Kastelorizo. Possible to find daily boat trips to Greek island from Kaş everyday. This is an other option if u want to think of it.

Thanks for your responses. The more I think about it, I agree with otherchelebi that we'd be pushing it to try to go to one of the islands. I don't want to rush the beautiful coastline and all there is to see. Also, I've already made plane reservations out of Antalya to Istanbul. I've been to Greece twice and my husband has been once, but I've always wanted to go to Rhodes and saw this as a possible opportunity. Rhodes will just have to wait for another trip

By the way, can someone tell me how to pronounce Selcuk? We're staying there to visit Ephesus and not knowing how to pronounce it is driving me crazy!

Less than two months to go - we can't wait!
