We have been in London and Paris many times. Last year, to try the Eurostar, we spent a Sunday in London. We departed from Paris in the morning and returned at 8PM. It was a good experience to know the Eurostar. We went standard class and returned first class. In Sundays they have special promotions with good prices.
If you don't know Paris it will be a very short time for seeing the city.
Have a good trip, Ismael

Hullo --

My husband and I recently spent two and half weeks in the U.K. with 5 days in London. We considered the same proposal you're looking at -- a day trip from London to Paris by Chunnel. Investigation proved the idea certainly is feasible although costly. We finally decided against doing it because we felt the best way to get our money's worth would be to overnight in Paris but our time was too short. Next trip, though, we are for sure planning to do this by chunnel with an overnight stay in Paris. FYI, Eurostar features a vast array of pricing; the best deals seem to be on weekends.

I guess if I were going to London during winter and planning to be there 11 days, I'd probably do the chunnel trip to Paris.

Whatever you decide, have a great, safe trip!

Cheers,
Kat

I don't think it's worth it but only
you can answer that question for yourself as it depends on how important
that amt of money is to your budget and
maybe how much you care about traveling
a lot and late in the day. This trip
violates my general rules for day
trips: cost $150 or less and one-way
travel time of 2 hrs or less (2-1/2 at most if its a place I can't get back to). Even with special weekend rates I'm pretty sure this trip costs about $200 RT. Travel time is 3 hrs + prob. add on 1/2 hr at stations-- so you're talking spending about $200 for a trip that takes up about 7 hours in travel time in one day. And, you'd be doing
this at a not very scenic or pleasant
weather time of the year.
Not for nothing, but spending one day in Paris is a little ridiculous. Other than being able to say you went to Paris you will see very little of Paris or to experience one of life's most memorable places. Either stay in London for this trip and make another trip to Paris or split your trip staying in Paris for at least a week.

Each of us has different value we place on opportunies we encounter. Ten years ago, I would have done things only if worthwhile, where worthwhile simply meant bang for the bucks.

Over the years, however; as I have seen my friend and relatives pass away, I treat the opportunities in different light. As I see my mother mentioning how my father would have wanted to travel here and there at a "good time" that never came, I am constantly reminded about whether I would regret later on what little opportunies I could have taken in my past.

Looking at your email address, I am generalizing that you are a student There is no question that it would be one expensive day, not fitting one definition of worthwhileness. Only each person can place value on such one day experience.
