Day trip from Florence to Cinque Terre???
We'll be flying into and staying in Florence for the first 3 days of our 2 week trip.
Before we move on to Montalcino - I was wondering if it would be possible to make a day trip to see Pisa and Cinque Terre in one day....or is that just too much?
I have never been to Italy and don't know the distance from Florence to either of these places, but it doesn't look "too far" on the map???
Am I kidding myself?
This isn't necessarily a must-do, except my husband insists on seeing the Pisa tower - but since I've read it only takes a few hours to see everything - I thought we could see something else the rest of the day before heading back to Florence.
Thanks for any feedback.

Florence is a major stop on your trip. Three days while not enough will allow you to see the highlights. I suggest you stick with Florence and see Cinque Terre on your next visit. If you want to see Pisa this trip it will take 1/2 day min. While this is doable I think that it would go well with a trip to 5Terre another time.

Concur with Tony... Cinque Terre is a great two day trip - hiking the cities can wear you out. Florence is too amazing not to do it proper justice. Suggest you would want to make enough time in your plans to really explore and enjoy...the David, markets, Uffizzi (sp?) Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, et al...

Pisa is a very doable daytrip. Actually Pisa is more or less a half-day trip. On the other hand, Cinque terre are not easy to get to from Florence, and if you really want to see the, you should devote your whole day to the task (this means leaving Florende around 7 am and returning sometimes 'round midnight). A better choice is to visit on one daytrip Pisa and Lucca.
