Day rooms at LHR
We just got our itinerary for our trip to Africa in September.
With a 10 hour flight from LAX to LHR, a 9 hour layover at LHR, then an 11 hour flight to Johannesburg plus another hour and a half to get to Victoria Falls, we will be in transit for over 30 hours. It would be nice to break up the transit time with a shower and a short nap at LHR. I have searched out info re day rooms at LHR, but most of the info coming up dates back to 2002. There has been indication that the Hilton offers day rooms. We land at LHR at noon, and fly out at 9:15. It's BA all the way, so we probably will have checked our baggage all the way through and won't have to deal with that for the ongoing flight. We would probably need the room, then, for about 6 hours. I have sent an email to the Hilton to see if they can accommodate. Does anyone have any current input re day rooms should the Hilton not be able to provide?
If we cannot locate a day room, we might consider a visit to Windsor which posters say is a 15 minute taxi ride away. Any comments on that option? Sounds much better than hanging out at the airport for hours. A day room, though, would be our preference.
