???---D'Austerlitz train station to Rue St. Jaques (St. Severin area)

We will be arriving at D'Austerlitz at 19:00 on a Fri. night.. Taxi lines will most likely be very long at this time.

We have walked this distance before but would prefer a cab as we will each have a small roller carry-on bag to deal with.

Any hints on getting a cab?
Is there another taxi stand closeby that we could walk to?
Is there a hotel nearby where we could get a taxi faster?
Or would the Metro be a better choice?

If you are concerned about getting a taxi at Austerlitz, why don´t you call and reserve one?

Taxi G7 English speaking operator 01 41 27 66 99

Usually the reserved taxis are at a different exit than are the regular taxis and with the current construction at Austerlitz, you may want to ask about where you will be picked up, just to avoid confusion.

You could take the RER C (same price as a métro ticket). It you go to this site: http://www.ratp.fr/fr/ratp/c_20527/me-deplacer/ you can find the different public transportation modes that are available.

there isn't any special way to get a cab at the train station other than waiting your turn. that area doesn't really have hotels, it's industrial. I think the closest hotels may be on rue Buffon or around metro St Marchel but I don't know if they are the kind of hotels taxis hang out all the time. There is no official taxi stand anywhere near there that I know, the closest one is at metro Quai de la Gare. . There is that big hospital right across the street practically, there should be taxis there (Hopital de la Pitie Salpetriere.

The Libertel Austerlitz may be the closest hotel but it's only 2* and taxis don't hang around 2* hotels. They only hang around big expensive hotels, such as around the Champs-Elysees or maybe rue de Rivoli.

Thanks for the quick info as we leave on our travels tomorrow. I guess our hotel idea won't work. The RER might be a good choice if the line is really long.

Thanks also for the reminder of the G7 English taxi service. We have used them to & from the airport but never for short distances. This might be our best option.
