We will be visiting Vienna December 10 & 11, and would like to ride the Giant Ferris Wheel in The Prata of Vienna. However, I can not determine if it operates in December. Can someone advise if it is open this time of the year, or limited to being open in the warmer months. Thanks,

According to the guide I have, Das Riesenrad operates all year. If my information is correct, the big wheel should be turning from 10:00 until 20:00 in the month of December.

The U-Bahn stop is on line 1 at Praterstern. When you emerge from the station, you need to look around to find the park itself. I do not recall a sign guiding me to it. Perhaps there is/was one and I just missed seeing it.

If I recall correctly, the big wheel features enclosed cabins.

Der Prater is a large park to explore in the summer. I am not sure what goes on in December.

Denise & others: Thanks for the information that the ferris wheel is open during our December visit. We arrive Vienna Sunday morning December 10, and board the MS Viktoria that evening for 5 nights to Regensburg. We have Sunday and Monday to tour Vienna before the boat leaves Monday PM, and hope to ride the giant ferris wheel one of the two days in Vienna. Thanks, TwoTravelers.
