Thanks French, yes aware that CT sticks into the path, I intend to take the train there so not an issue. Thanks for the links.

Thanks Keren

Massimo, I've done cycling tours of the Po twice, a really lovely area and full of fantastic wild life especially birds. I think I've written one of them up on Fodors about 8 years ago. I also offer mybikeguide.co.uk which shows where a lot of routes I've taken.

Calabria, it depends on timing, but looks interesting.

Thanks for the link, Bilbo, I'll save it. Were you riding on bike paths along the Po, or on the road?

Po, second time, started in Venice along canal paths, then south from Padova on canal paths and then back roads, then on dyke roads and following one of the Trails around Ferrara, then back roads to the main Bologna NW/SE road and so urban roads.

I think the Po is covered in one of the articles.

I've also ridden Verona to Venice (going south of the Euganian hills) where just about every road is a back road.

Great, entertaining read, Bilbo. I'm in the process of thinking out future trips to more remote areas of Italy (very interested in Le Marche), doing some hiking and riding and so being able to visit some countryside, since I don't intend to hire a car when going on my own. For now probably not a full-time cycling holiday, but single-day excursions here and there.
I'll make use of your guide.

Just to say, that despite temperatures of up to 32C we just finished enjoying this trip. I'll write it up soonest.

In case St Cirq and Christina log in I can confirm the "Menu at E10" is alive and kicking along the Italian riviera including wine. ;-)

Congrats, Bilbo. Look forward to the TR.

It so happens you've missed the sweltering weather here - that's what normally happens to us so it's nice to see the weather pain being spread around.
