I concur with julies. By the coast and even up in the hills is great for cycling in the Alpes Maritimes in November. It does rain then but it doesn't tend to last for long and the snow is way up high. The winter months are my favourite for cycling down here as its not so hot.

Best

If you're looking for a serious cycling break, this firm was recommended to us recently. The people who run it are English.

From Carcassone to the coast.... which one?

This page might help

http://www.mybikeguide.co.uk/Midi_Bike.php

Of these I spoke to http://www.relaxbiketours.com/ a bit this summer who seems pretty sensible.

My experience is when it rains it chucks it down, but the rest of the time it can be warmish, however not everything will be open. Still, "no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothing"

I might also look at the Algarve in November as a tad warmer

You ought to look into buying or renting a bike in Europe. The cost to carry one on a plane is pretty ridiculous. I think Lufthansa might be a better option than most, in that they will allow you to just wrap your bike and transport it without taking it apart.

Biking along the Loire is supposed to be great and easy. Some people enjoy going into Switzerland to the source of the Rhine and then riding downhill for a day and then onward, around Lake Constance and down the Rhine.

For a great four to eight day trip, start in Saarlouis and bike the Saar to Trier. Then bike down the Mosel until hit the Rhine, and if you wish you can then hang a right and bike up the Rhine for a day or two.

Have fun!

buying a bike and selling it back to the shop on some lose kind of agreement is known to work too. the Loire has few hills along the river but go from west to east as the winds often blow IME on biking many manhy times in the Loire.
