We will be travelling to Southern France, Italy and Switzerland in August and I have difficulties finding out the current price of gas at the pump in these countries. Could anyone suggest a website where I can find this information?

The Automobile Association (AA) in the UK publishes a monthly report on fuel prices in different Euopean countries. Here's a link to the latest one:-

Try website above or similar. Prices vary by region and station in France. Best prices for gasoline (petrol) and diesel (gazole) are generally at the supermarkets i.e. Leclerc, Intermarche, Carrefour, SuperU.

Worst prices are at the autoroute rest areas, followed by standalone stations such as Total.

If you do not have a chip and pin credit card, use the supermarket pumps when staffed to accept non-chip payments, roughly between 9:00 and 12:00 and 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Many autoroute stations are not staffed at night.

The prices quoted on the AA link are already out of date. They quote 139.2 for diesel in the North west of England, but we are currently paying only 132.9.

I guess the supermarket price wars move prices around very quickly.
