Cruising Greece- Need Advice

Hi -
My husband and I want to spend a week traveling in Italy and then take a cruise through Greece (ie-Venice to Athens and fly home out of Athens). Is there any recommendations for cruise lines (small or large)? Or, should we just do it ourselves and take ferries between each island? Please recommend.

Hi,

Check with Windstar Cruises - they have the Venice/Athens itinerary. They have small masted sailing ships with all oceanview staterooms and they visit all of the smaller ports where the bigger ships can't go because of size. It is a casual elegance atmosphere on those ships with exquisite service and personal attention. It would be a great middle ground between the huge ferries and cruise ships and getting a private yacht charter.

Best Regards,
Julia

The only way to travel between the islands is using Greek ferries, they go to all the islands, cruise ships of any sort do not go to the islands only cruise ship stops.

We took the Oceania Line's Insignia 14 day Venice to Athens cruise in October and loved it. The ports were: Ancona, Split, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Amalfi, Siracusa, Valletta, Santorini, Rhodes and Mykonos.

Cruise ships stop at some of the more popular island destinations such as Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Crete.

You can check itineraries by going to either www.cruisecritic.com or www.cruise-addcits.com
