Croatia coast in Apr-May?
Any feedback on what to expect weather-wise in southern Croatia (Split-Dubrovnik & nearby islands) during the last week of April - 1st week in May?
I am planning a honeymoon. We're getting married Apr 23 and going on our honeymoon immediately after the reception. My bride's one stipulation is that she doesn't want to be cold.
It doesn't have to be swimming weather; but no jackets. I've looked at temperature indexes; but they really don't tell you what it's like.
Many thanks,
Louis

I don't know how you figure to avoid the possibility of cold weather in late April/early May in that part of the world. That's considered the transition time for the weather coming out of the cold months and entering the warmer ones, but it's still unrealistic to think you can get a definitive answer here or anywhere else for that matter. Winds are a big factor in the overall temperature, and any island or coastal destination will be susceptible to them at that time of year.
I suggest you rethink your destination and move further south in Europe, maybe to southern Crete or Rhodes or even the Canaries, Egypt and Morocco if you want to have the best chance of warmth. Even then I'd still pack a jacket.

I spent a May in Croatia, including the places you are visiting. Various weather fronts moved through as it was transitioning seasons. It ranged from quite hot to some days with rain and wind. Definitely required a light jacket during the latter. Evenings could be chilly regardless. I agree with brotherlesslove2004, the further south you go, the better off you'll be. BTW, have you considered Thailand? No jacket in April, guaranteed.

I agree with both of the other answers. It's quite possible that you luck out and get a stretch of good weather, but the chances are that some of the days will be chilly. You won't be needing heavy coats (like for winter in ski resorts), it'll be more windbreaker type (think central California coast on the same dates). The good thing is that during springtime, cold fronts are not usually for prolonged stretches of time. It's not uncommon to have two sunny comfortable days sandwiched around one cool rainy day.
The water in the Adriatic is a bit chilly, even in mid-summer, not as warm as Greece. Enjoy!

We were in Croatia last yea in late April. The weather was lovely, cool in the morning, a light jacket and warmer in the afternoon. We had a day of heavy rain, great for taking a bus ride somewhere. Go to Hvar. It's a romantic island just to walk around or drink coffee on the square and enjoy the view.
