Hi!

Well, I've never been to Croatia but I'll go there
for the first time on the beggining of august.
I;ve got some croatian friends _ who have come to
Brazil _ and they are very, very nice!
The first idea that come to our mind when talking about Croatia is that it must be a country destroyed by war. In fact, that's not true. It's like the old part of Europe, with many castles and old buildings.
The Capital Zagreb has something like 900 years....
I'm going to the south to a city called Split and then I'm going to Sibenik. You need a Visa to get
to Croatia but it was easy and cheap to get it with the croatian embassy in Brazil.
Well, they live by the sea, close to the Adriatic sea, with more than 1000 islands close to the shore.
It means that you can go swiming a lot and do all those summer sports !!!!
I"m really enthusiastic about my trip!
Hope you will have fun! )

Croatia is a new travel destination this year being offered as a stop on some cruise lines. From what I saw on one of the travel channels on TV, the scenery is beautiful and the buildings look old and historic-like Rome. Please give an update on the bulletin board following your trips. I have a grandmother who grew up there and would love to visit sometime.

We have visited Croatia three times. Conditions may be different now but we traveled with our two children and other relatives.

I was in Croatia two summers ago.It is very beautiful and I would highly recommend it.Dubrovnic is an absolute must see, notably the old walled part, and yes it is worth climbing all the steps for the view (and thats having climbed it in 40 degree heat). Also, taking a boat trip up the coast gives you a very relaxing way to see some fab scenery. Enjoy !!

My husband and I went to Croatia in Oct. 98 to visit family. If you stay in Zagreb, I recommend Hotel Astoria, near the rail station. It's affordable, English is spoken and they have a great breakfast! We didn't visit the usual tourist cities as we went to tiny rural villages west of Zagreb, but it was an incredible experience. Visit www.croatia.net for info.

I am planning a trip to Croatia next year also. Found an interesting article online at footloosetravel.com. You may want to take a look at. I thought it was quite useful.
