Can some one recommend a good place (somewhere near the tourist attractions) to find this traditional french snack (?) We missed this on our last trip to Paris so want to make sure we taste on our upcoming trip.

My daughter and I loved the ones we bought off a cart near Sacre Coeur! They were fantastic!

I just wanted to say bon voyage... we leave next week for Paris, Amsterdam, and Bruges! We'll have to compare notes when we return.

The crepe stand at the St. Germain des Pres metro stop at Bld St. Germaine and Rue Bonaparte.

Especially in the touristy areas, there seem to be pretty frequent stands. The "best crepe" thread is good, but if you see a stand somewhere and just buy, you're not likely to be disappointed.

But, if you're eating a crepe in a touristy area, do hold on tight. I nearly had a little bird lift mine right from my hand! Startled me quite a bit, but I managed to not drop it.

there is one in place concorde. 3 euros. another opposite concergerie in quai de la messagerie on the seine. i wasnt surprised u missed it last time.considering they are supposed to be a traditional parisian snack i found them quite hard to find.

I agree! I like to have lunch at Deux Magots or Lipp and then walk over here for a crepe! Yum!!!!!

I don't know that these are a traditional French snack, I think it's tourists who eat them as snacks and on the streets. I mean, I know they are a French culinary item, but I don't know that French people eat them as snacks like tourists do, nor walking around. I think they are meant to be part of a meal.

I see them all over myself, but I guess mainly around tourist attractions or places where they can set up those stands. If someone really wants them, there are many good crepe Breton restaurants on rue de Montparnasse in the 14th. There is also a sidewalk stand selling them right near there, on bd Montparnsse.

There are two good crêperies on the Ile St-Louis; just walk around the streets and you'll see them.

When you order at a crepe stand, make sure they don't give you a previously made crepe. Some near the tourist areas make them in advance to facilitate speedy selling. It takes a few seconds longer, but get one fresh off the griddle.

There's a restaurant specializing in crepes on Rue Princesse in St-Germain des Pres area, good for a light meal.

That's good advice. You should be able to watch them make your crepe.

I agree with ggna..The Crêperie Josselin near Montparnasse is very good!!

My best crepe experience was at a stand outside the Samaritaine department store. Had a marmalade crepe, a chestnut cream one, etc. But I maintain the best are the simplest - just sugar and butter for the topping.
Whatever you do, avoid the stands where they pre-cook the crepes and keep them, soggy and sad, in a stack until called for.

At the risk of getting slapped down for recommending an establishment (it might smack of "advertising" or maybe I'm the owner?), I'd like to heartily recommend LE TERMINUS NORD right across the street from the Gare du Nord of all places, for the best "Crepe Suzettes" in Paris, for a special treat. For eating crepes standing up, I agree that the one on St. Andre des Arts is wonderful.

Shellia's advice is very good. The stand outside the Anvers Metro does NOT make fresh crepes -- they have a stack of pre-made crepes, then throw it on the pan to heat it up. Yuck. On the other hand, there's a stand in the middle of the Luxembourg Gardens that makes them fresh and tasty!
