Two months from tonight I'll be on a plane to Paris for a solo eleven-day voyage. My fifth visit, but I haven't been there since 2000 (prev. visits, twice in 1996, once in 1999, once in 2000).
I'm pretty much ready. I need to make a list of restaurants to try and put together my rough itinerary (using a grid of museum opening days/hours). I don't like to plan itineraries to the hour, but I like to make sure I get to see everything I want by grouping things together by neighborhood, etc.
I'm looking forward to the Louvre most of all, my favorite museum in the world, but I'm also looking forward to visiting museums I didn't make it to on my previous visits (Jacquemart-Andre, Musee Delacroix, Musee Guimet, Musee Gustave Moreau).
I'm also planning a special pilgrimage to Auvers-sur-Oise to visit the grave of Vincent van Gogh. I have always wanted to go but never did before. I want to bring him flowers and sit quietly with him a while. (Yes, I am an enormous sap.)
I've been getting in the mood by reading novels and nonfiction books, watching movies, and checking out episodes of French in Action online!

Leaving in four weeks(end of April)....6 days Northern Ireland, 6 days Scotland (our seventh trip to Scotland). Thought of driving around Sicily (one of the few places we've never been) However~~~~~~~~~the bad knee, foot, and shoulder say "take it easy this time" and go to familiar territory. We just "press on",ignore the aches. and adapt!
Want to plan a Fall trip also,,,but will plan that this summer (OR get a knee replacement!!!, OR shoulder surgery, darn it)!!!

Three months from today we leave for Paris! DH and I and 3 adult children plus one spouse and one significant other - 7 of us - are staying for a week in a 3 bedroom apartment overlooking the gardens of the Palais Royale. (I keep looking at the website at the "availability" calendar to see "our" week. And our seats on the flights.)
It's the third trip for my husband and I to magical Paris (1999 and 2001), and we're looking forward to seeing the city through new eyes with our family. We've scheduled touring with Michael Osman one day, and hope to add side trips to Chartres and Vaux le Vicomte. We're looking forward to enjoying French cheese, wine, lazing around, walking our feet off, communal meals, and window shopping. And the Fete de Musique, which falls on our 37th anniversary.
Then on to Brittany for a week for us; son and wife to Italy for 10 days; other son and SO to Alsace and Burgundy, and sadly, daughter has to come back home to work.
Am I ready? lodgings and car booked; need to figure out the clothes. (and need to lose some weight so I can gain it back there....)

Really, is there any better feeling than this anticipation? Sometimes, it's almost better than the trip itself! But this thread has helped me while away the time...just over 6 weeks now (although 44 days sounds better!) till Paris and Venice!

45 days until I leave for my trip. My sister and I will be visiting Ireland, Scotland and England.
This is my first trip to Europe and I have researched the heck out of it. Have flights, B&Bs/hotels booked. Just finishing up booking a rental car and then just have some train tickets to buy for our time in England.
I can't really pinpoint one thing I am most excited about - just the whole trip. I have always been fascinated with Ireland in particular and have always wanted to go there. It's hard to believe it's only 45 days away! Can't wait!

TOMORROW MORNING! Headed to the airport for a very very very long travel day to Amsterdam. Then on to Bruges, Antwerp, and Brussels. The airport shuttle is picking me up at (GASP) 4am, so that's LESS than 24 hours and I have STUFF to do...

154 days til my first trip to Ireland. Flights are booked, some accomodation is booked and plans are beginning to take shape.
This is a dream trip for me and will last for 3 weeks - everyone who knows me knows about this trip (and is probably sick to death of hearing about it, haha). I'm most looking forward to the people. I've heard nothing but good and can't wait to discover their charm for myself. For the first two weeks, we're going Dublin-Belfast-Armagh-Galway, and then for the last week we're going to fly by the seats of our pants. I can't wait is an understatement. I feel like I'm going to explode.
