Cotswold by Rail. One day. Cirencester, Bibury, Burford
I have been to the Cotswold's before and have stayed In Cheltenham for over a week. I have been to 3 different villages, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Burton on Water. With that said, I will be returning so show my friend just a small taste of the Cotswolds and would like to see different sites. We are staying in London and have access to a rail pass. In looking at a map, I notice that the only rail station options are Kemble, Moreton in Marsh as well as Oxford. Then I am assuming we would just take a bus to villages. What is a good suggested itinerary? I was thinking orginially London to Kemble then taxi to Cirencester, bus to Bibury then to Burford then to Oxford and taking rail back to London. Is this logical. I kind of didn't want to repeat the same villages as I have seen before.
Open for suggestions to possible one day itinerary.
Thanks!

I have no idea how often the buses run but this itinerary seems extremely ambitious - even if you had a car. And it might well be impossible by bus.
Do google and check the details before deciding you can do this in one day (seem like at least 2 days worth to me).

I don't think you could do this. But maybe flanner or julia_t can figure a way.
If you insist on using public transport - I'd take the train to Moreton-in-Marsh and the a local bus to maybe Chipping Campden or some other village/town and then walk any direction to another village/town and a bus back to M-i-M for the train.

Kemble is a railhead, with next to no supporting buses. It's also pricier to get to than Charlbury/Moreton, whose rail services still live under protective blankets woven (from Cotswold wool) by the requirement for senior railway management and at least one Cabinet member always to need the Moreton-Charlbury-Paddington line to get to work.
The bus services from Kemble are visualised at http://www.escapetothecotswolds.org....ghere/central/
The services from Moreton/Charlbury are visualised at http://www.escapetothecotswolds.org....inghere/north/
Both spider maps have links to the underlying timetables.
There's a bus from Kemble to Cirencester, but not at the right time (though some of the Roman stuff is a shlep from the centre, the museum and parish church are handy). The bus to Bibury is also useless. There's no "there" at Bibury: just photo-ops.
You might just get the last (1745) bus from Burford to Oxford, but it's more dependable to get a taxi to Charlbury (cheaper and quicker than Oxford)
I'd commend the Cirencester-Bibury (if you must)-Burford itinerary if you really want to dash round villages. You'd get a lot more out of getting the train to Chasrlbury, walking to Woodstock, then getting the bus back to Oxford, but I'm always batting on about the pointlessness of haring round villages and no-one ever listens.
No-one on this forum, that is. Sensible people all take my advice. If I saw the point of this mindless gallivanting, I'd hire a car at Oxford and drive round.

So if I am going to narrow my down my trip, is it feasible to go to Burford and Woodstock in one day? I am assuming it would be best to take the train to Oxford and then take a bus to those 2 villages? Would a taxi between the 2 (Burford and Woodstock) be better or a bus?
