Costa del Sol in March - help

We are spending 3 weeks at a time share in Puerto Banus 15th March.
Have no idea what to expect..is this short wearing weather or ?? We are in the middle of a snow storm in Canada so it is a little hard to think summer clothes. and this hasn't been a long in the planning trip.I don't have a clue what to pack. shorts bathing suits or jeans, long pants? tee's or sweaters. Also,we want to take a trip to Seville - and to Granada. Can these be done in 1 day or should we stay overnight. Do they have tours as we really don't want to drive. Any recommendations would be appreciated...thank you very much for any help

Ive been to Costa del Sol so many times in March and believe me, the weather will be better than that snow storm that you are experiencing in Canada. March isnt summer yet there by any stretch of the imagination but you should get nice sunny days in the 60's. Oops, your Canadian ok that might be 20-23 Celcius give or take. If you are there for 3 weeks , you might get an afternoon of rain once or twice. Take a light jacket, light sweater, maybe a sweatshirt. The ocean or sea will be cold even if you are from Canada. I live in New England so I know cold water too. Take the old bathingsuit just in case though. You will have a great time anyway. Remember, Seville and Granada are colder than Puerto Banus. Not a lot but even if you have a really warm day(which could happen)on the coast, it might be wise to bring the sweatshirt to those other cities. Do pack some shorts which you might wear during the day. It'll get cooler at night.
Sure there are day tours but it would be nice to stay over night in one of those cities. Seville is gorgeous as well is Granada. There are a few little villages that are beautiful. Ronda is actually a town and is breathtaking. The ride is a lttle scary up the mountains. There is another town which is very touristy but still pretty called Mijas and is located pretty close to Puerto Banus. Nerja is about an hour and a half maybe 2 from where you are that is nice. If you go there, definitely go to Frigiliana. Its your quintiscential(sp?) Andalusian town.
Hopefully, you like seafood as it is so good there. Of course you will have so many choices. Puerto Banus can be pricey for restaurants and with your dollar it might hurt a bit. If money isnt an isssue fine but just look around for bargains. Spain is still very reasonable and the food is good. If you like olive oil, bring yourself some back as a souvenir. Its sooo good. Have a wonderful time! Im so jealous

I was on the Costa del Sol last March and found it cooler than I had thought. Many told me it was cooler than usual. There were days one needed a light jacket and long pants. I would definitely take a few pieces of warm clothing and an umbrella in case of rain. The day I went to the Alhambra it poured!

I should have emphasized bringing a little bit of everything in regards to clothing. You wont need a scarf, gloves or a winter coat for sure. I've been to Costa del Sol in March five times for work. Each for 2 weeks. Typically, you will get 1-2 days of rain. Mostly it is nice though but do bring the umbrella just in case. The weather in Granada where the Alambr is can be very different that on the coast as I mentioned in my first post. Buen viaje!

Would a lightweight rain jacket be sufficient or would a leather jacket keep you warmer. I also am travelling to Marbella-Malaga-Nerja the last week in March. What is the dress for dinner in the restaurants - would a woman feel more in place with slacks or a dress? I heard the area is full of "rich" patrons which makes me think that people tend to dress up more in this area, true?

Pat

Don't miss Gibraltar. It's like London but with much better weather.

The timeshare that I stayed at had various tours available - one was to Granada. It's a fairly long day, but picked us up at 5am and returned us about 5 or 6 pm. Much easier than driving yourself.

Ronda and Mijas are definitely worth the trip as well.

Puerto Banus is beautiful. Enjoy your trip.

Kat

Since you are leaving soon, it makes more sense to check on www.weather.com for the current forecast at your destination, rather than rely on others' past experiences in March.

Wanda, in Nerja people do not usually "dress up" for dinner but in nice restaurants they usually wear what I call business casual. "34" is the only restaurant that I can think of that one might want to dress a little nicer, which for me is black slacks and a nice top or blazer. I used to take a dress or skirt but no longer do when we go to Nerja as I found that I never wore them. Evenings can get chilly there. Have fun!

go to
opodo.co.uk
enter Malaga or Granada for weather forecasts and other useful information.
Definitely bring a black wool sweater for chilly evenings. Also, bring something warm to sleep in. Nights can be quite cold and the heating is not what you are used to.
