Qwovadis always pumps Castle View Guest House and always avoids a key issue for the place - although it is well-located, it is a THREE FLOOR WALKUP with no elevator.

"<i>Qwovadis always pumps Castle View Guest House</i>"

I <i>suspect</i> our qwo may not have actually stayed there (unlike other Fodorites who recommend it). I stayed there 3 times, but don't think I've ever mentioned it w/o also warning about the climb . . . . and it certainly isn't expensive by Edinburgh standards.

Castle View :

to quote their website

"Prices for rooms start from £39 per room subject to availability. The rate includes full breakfast and local taxes (VAT)"

At those prices and from the quality which seems to be on show on their website, I wouldn't bother checking availability.

I suspect that they are booked up for the next 10 years. Doesn't look too different to the place we normally use.....at £220 a night without a view.

I stayed at Castle View and the room we had was nice. But if someone stayed elsewhere for 220 quid at the same "quality" (which is easily assessed by pictures </sarcasm then that someone was ripped off.

And rooms START from 39 quid, that's low season and the single, in all likelihood.

Russ

I see what you mean, I looked at the Georgian frontage and the images on the first page which appear Boutiquish.

On digging a little deeper and looking more closely at the photographs, it would appear to be of a "slightly lower" quality than the Hotel Du Vin....and there only seems to be one plasma screen in the room!
