Corsica & Sardinia, is 4/5 days enough?

I`m thinking early April. Is the weather reasonable then? What`s the best way to see these islands,by road(tours) or ferry ? Should I allow more time? I really do not have a sense of the ease of travelling in these places. I`m mainly interested in the history as shown in architecture and landscape and of course good food.Any suggestions on accommodation very welcome .

You definitely should allow more time and rent a car as public transport

sorry ..........
as public transportation is not always convenient. I have spent about a month in Sardinia and feel I have barely scratched the surface.

Where are you flying from? Will you have a car? If so, you could spend 5 days in Corsica, 5 days in Sardinia. April won't be beach weather in either places but could be nice or rainy and windy. However it is a nice time to visit - very few tourists. On the other hand may hotels will be closed especially on the coast. If you search my name I have written 3 trip reports on Sardinia - mgiht give you some ideas.

Fantastic Pvoyageuse,I had a quick read ,It all sounds terrific.
I will not have a car,was hoping to get about by public transport( bus/ferry) is this realistic ,given the low season?
I will be coming from Malta, but think I have to fly from Italy as I cannot seem to be able to go directly from Malta? If this is so what is the best departure airport In Italy? Mainland or Sicily? Thank you so much for your help. From Australia it is proving suprisingly difficult to organize this leg of my trip.
