Corsica- One week - where to stay?
Hello,
My sister and I will be in Corsica for seven days. We don't want to move around but would like to do some exploring on day trips. We are in for a relaxing week with likely lots of reading and beach time and maybe one or two dinners out on the town but we don't need a lot of excitement.
Any recommendations on the ideal place to stay in for such a vacation would be most welcomed!
Thank you!!

Where are you flying into? We have only been to Bonifacio in Corsica, we visited on a day trip from Sardinia. Bonifacio is spectacular, there is the lower port area with some amazing yachts and the older, upper area with fabulous seaviews. We were staying in Santa Teresa Gallura and walked from our hotel to the ferry port. The ferry took about 45 mins. There is a nice small beach in Santa Teresa and lots of places to eat. The town is walking distance to the ferry port. So I'd recommend both those places, at least for a day visit. Don't forget your passport if you do the ferry trip.

Will you have a car or use the local trains and buses? We travelled using local transport, visiting Bastia, Calvi, Corte, Ajaccio and other places (at which point we ran out of time) but your options are broader if you have your own wheels. Corte was our favourite place but Calvi was also great, with very shallow water at the nearby beach.

We stayed in Calvi. The harbour is very picturesque with alot of bars/restaurants within walking distance, the beach is not far away and it is easy to get to other places along the coast using the railway that runs along it. Your own car is better however, you can visit some of the beautiful villages in the mountains. There are day trips too from Calvi such as the Scandola nature reserve & Girolata, a village only accessible by sea, where there are cows on the beach, lovely little restaurants serving organic produce. The food in Calvi was very good despite it being a touristy town.
