Cordes Sur Ciel Accommodation
We will travelling from the Pyrenees to the Dordogne early Sept. Will be having a one night stopover between the two and looking for accommodation close to or in Cordes if possible (2 rooms).
Any recommendations please?

We spent two nights at La Maison au Puits a few years ago. This is a chambre d’hôtes at the foot of the hill. Wonderful hosts who were very welcoming and helpful. We especially enjoyed the table d’hôte dinner on our first night.

I think there was a public lot just down the street. We had a minivan and we would have needed parking... I'm a little fuzzy on what the arrangement was. You could email and ask.
We walked up the hill our second night to have dinner in the hilltop village.

I know the place Kathy stayed, and frankly, though it's darling, it's not ideally situated because you have to haul yourself up that steep hill one way or another to get to the old town, which is where you definitely want to be. There's a tourist bus, but that means adhering to a schedule and dealing with crowds in high season. The alternative is to walk - it's a huge hill and a big pain. Plus, the lower town is a bore, not where you want to end up at the end of the day.
The Hostellerie du Vieux Cordes will give you a pass to a private parking lot up on top of the hill, a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Everything you could possibly want to visit in Cordes is right outside the hotel on the main square - restaurants, shops, the old castle, everything.
