Copenhagen Restaurants

Can anyone recommend some good restaurants for my upcoming trip? P.S. I do not like seafood.

One week in Copenhagen does not an expert make me but we had good or better meals in the following (hope they are all three still there).

Stig's Vinkaelder & Bodega on Helgolandsgade, just south of Vester Brogade. This is all several blocks west of the train station.

Mongolian BBQ (Mongolian stirfry) and Hereford House (steak house) both southeast of the City Hall on I think Vester Voldgade.

Peder Oxe and Jensens Bofhaus in Grayfriars Square and are medium priced, high value restaurants. THe Mongolian BBQ place that Rick mentions is one of my favorites. I think MBBQ is actually a little further South on HC Anderson Blvd from the Hereford House. There's also a Hereford House in Nyhavn.

If you like draft beer, go to 90 Vin Stue at 90 Gammel Kongevej. Worlds best beer!

For what it's worth the Blue Elephant Thai restaurant at the Radisson Scandinavia is excellent, so is Kommandanten and Sankt Gertrudes Kloster. They're all pretty pricey.

What a GREAT time of year to go to Copenhagen!

Try to have a lunch of open face sandwiches.(Smoorbrod.. sp??) Accompanied by beer and a shot of snaps. Ask at your hotel (or business friends?) for suggestions.

I forgot Nyhavn, just shopping the restaurants along Nyhavn is fun. If the weather cooperates lunch along the canal is nice.

For hearty portions of great Danish food (many beef and pork entrees) Frida's Bodega on Gammel (Gl.)Kongevej 5 - phone# 33 31 65 10 would be a suggestion. If you enjoy Thai, Nong Ploy Thai Restaurant is further down Gl. Kongevej at #91 - phone# 33 21 1671. We visited both several times in 2001 and they are within walking distance (me pushing a wheelchair)from town hall, Tivoli area. Enjoy Copenhagen!

I just saw your post on the "when are you going to where" thread about not being able to find restaurant rec's in Copenhagen. I have been travelling to Copenhagen at least once a year for the past 14 years and many of the places that I found to be good last year are gone next year. The 4 or 5 that I mentioned in my earlier post have been there since 1978, my first trip to CPH. Second, a lot of the restaurants that come highly recommended in guide books and from other travellers are (yeech!!) seafood restaurants.

There are two Chinese restaurants where I find the food passable but the atmosphere intriguing. Hunan on Gammel Torv on the Stroget and the large "ship on the water" Chinese restaurant that I can't right now think of the name.

Sankt Gertrudes Kloster - I still remember this restaurant from a visit about 10 yrs ago or more (there's not many restaurants I remember from anywhere!). My cousin went in June and said it was great. Terrific atmosphere and the food was very good.
