Cool destination in mid-August

Every summer we search for a refuge from the steaming hot weather of mid August. Last couple of years we toured all over Norway, Ireland and Iceland. Now we are looking for new ideas of places to visit on August 2002. Any ideas for a nice and cool place?
Thank you!
AA

Scotland, Ireland, England. I was in Scotland in August once and people were wearing wool coats! That may have been extreme, but you did need a good raincoat, the warmer the better. Ok, I was in Dublin during Hurricane Charlie the week before, but still, I don't think it routinely gets hot in UK and Ireland.

Anywhere in the French, Italian, Austrian or Swiss Alps is very pleasant, sometimes downright cold, in August.
