Converting Euro bills to debit card

I have more Euros than I would like to carry around. Is there a bank that you can exchange notes for a debit card in Europe. I'll be starting my trip in Paris.

Sorry, I said Munich earlier.

The answer is no.

You can always buy (=shudder=) travellers cheques if you need to make the cash less vulnerable.

Did you buy a lot of € ahead of time? If so, just be very careful - and buy a money belt if it is truly a lot of money.

A good lesson for next time, don't buy currency ahead and use your ATM card to get € as you need them . . . . .

I'm going to be receiving a check in euros, so I was just trying to avoid fees of converting to dollars and back to euros when I went on the trip.

I really didn't know but would have guessed no as getting a debit card means opening a bank account, and they won't do that for transient folks with just a little money.
