Clue left deliberately vague: The name of the city (5 letters, - - - a - ) is intimately connected with an order issued by an emperor (11 letters), which in turn is linked to a certain religion, and you could argue that none of this would have happened had there not been an event at a certain bridge (7 letters).

The play was a "reading". Basically each actor stood at his/her spot, and each had a copy of the script in his/her hand. One of my friend was bored to death. The only memorable part was the "Dance of the seven veils" done by Marisa Tomei.

Yes! Did Google help with this one? I know that using the word "Edict" would have made this very easy via Google, but I didn't try Googling with the new version.
So it's your turn.
Of course, the significance of this is that the Edict of Milan legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire. Constantine attributed this victory over Maxentius to divine intervention; see

Okay. Try this one. I have been vague but I think there is enough there. if not let me know and I'll give a bit more:
Looking for the names of two people with the same first name but a different second name.
Connection: although they died approx 50 years apart, they were born in the same country. The more recently departed one did not stay in his mother country, after living in Germany, France, UK he moved to US but did not stay there, he died back in Europe.
Both have political connections though the first to die is clearly more famous for his political connection.
They have another thing in common, the act that caused the death of the first gentleman is the same act that caused the fame of the second gentleman.
Guy no 1 was the first to die
First name 8 letters third letter A Last name 7 letters second letter A
Guy no 2 died approx 50 years later
First name 8 letters third letter A (of course) last name5 letters no As
