Contiki cancelled...what now???
Just to make my day, Contiki has cancelled my 34 day tour of Europe...just what I need while trying to study for exams!!! So now I need help trying to find a new tour. I would like a tour because I am travelling alone and this is my first major trip overseas. I'm 19 so I would prefer a tour with a younger target range. Any suggestions???

Cassandra--ther is a cosmos tour that has a multicountry European 30 day tour--they are budget tours and would be in the price range of Contiki--they are not a young 18-25 yr group but lots of singles go on them. Contact you travel agent and pick up a brochure--hope this helps--why did Contiki cancel-I was just in Florence 2 weeks ago and ther were 6 of their buses lined up and kids everywhere.

Cassandra-just found a website-I know nothing about this but try to contact them thru email--do NOT give them a credit card online-get an 800 no. and call and ask for catalog--they have a 37 days tour-says 18-25 year old---
http://member.aol.com/europetvl/yth.htm
Hope this helps

Andy, thanks for that, I just checked out Cosmos site and requested a brochure, hopefully they might have something to suit. Contiki cited operational reasons for cancelling ie. not enough people booked. it was the last tour of the summer season so i guess it could have been foreseeable. my problem now is that i am locked in due to airfares and hotel bookings...

Cassandra. I am really sorry to hear about the tour being cancelled. I hope there was some kind of compensation.

I had gone into a student oriented travel agencyh to pick up some brochures for my niece.
Their website is www.counciltravel.com. I am in no way affiliated with them and have not used them either so I cannot give a personal recommendation. But as your gae group is their focust I thought you may be able to check into it and see if you can find anything sutiable. They are in a very student oriented area in Philadelphia, near a number of colleges (Villanova, Bryn Mawr, Haverford.) Good luck and hope something works out. Usually things turn out for the best.

Cassandra

Try www.busabout.com. Have heard good things about it and my 22 year old son is planning to use them for a month in Europe this summer.

Good Luck!

Just spoke to a friend- she said to try Council Tours.com---she said they are harder to deal with than COntiki as you have to send them proof that you are a student(ie.copy of student id etc) and have to jump thru lot of hoops but that they DO specialize in college kids to Europe---Good luck.
